Additional Notes

NAME Tulbaghia ‘Orla’ registered with KAVB 6/11/09

Summary

Flowering from June to September, this new Tulbaghia hybrid is really quite exceptional. Held atop 30 - 43 cm glaucous scapes speckled and flecked with brown the 10 flowered inflorescence bears a succession of flowers of iridescent gold, edged bright purple-pink with matching relatively large recurved scales which are prominent against the lustrous background. Additionally the dark-green foliage which has a light sheen is stained pink-violet at the base. Sufficiently special I think to earn the name of ‘Orla’ which is a Celtic Irish name dating back to pre-Christian times generally considered as meaning "Golden lady" or "Golden princess."
